College Finals

Hate them!

Just a little rant.

So I'm suppose to be writing a draft for my English class and I honestly did try, but while I was looking for articles to support my theory (yeah, it's a blasted research paper.) I came across this article. I was infuriated! How can people do that and feel okay about it?! Maybe I'm still touched by the movie that I watched last night for my culture class or maybe my intermsof culture teacher is finally getting to me, but still... this is RIDICULES! What gives someone the right to say "I don't want to go to school with you/sit by you because you're a different color"? In the movie I watched, the teacher uses the holocaust as an example of what this kind of hatred does. It's horrible! In the movie it says that the Nazis used "statistics" to prove that Jews and blacks are the lowest form of human. Ugh. This just makes me sick!

BUT......

It also makes me comforted to know that each person on this earth, despite race and color, is a child of God. It is incredible how every problem in life can lead back to the basic truths of the Gospel. How many other religions can do that? It always amazes me.

Random.

So I really like clothes. Dresses to be exact. I want to design one someday, maybe. The only problem is, I have no idea how I would do this. I don't know. Maybe I'll figure it out one day, but for now, look at these cuties that I found.

Cute, right? Yeah I know. I think I'm getting dress hungry, but I am a poor, unemployed college student so this is a major probem! *sigh*

On another note, I have found THE cutest blog in the history of blogs! It's called Busy Bee Lauren and I really suggest checking it out. It makes me smile!

Another happiness in my life (besides the beautiful fact that it is now officially SPRING BREAK!!!) is the beautiful, talented singer Regina Spektor. This always makes me want to paint. You too?

Ah! Well, I need to pack so I can go home! Yay for home!

Birthday, birthday.

That's right. If you see this blog within the next month you will see that IT"S MY BIRTHDAY MONTH!!! I don't know about you but, birthdays that just get me excited. I mean, I don't really want to get older and I don't really need/want anything for my birthday, but I love birthdays! I love the feeling that I get when I wake up on my birthday and I realize that it's my day! Is that weird? Well, I love it anyways and I'm excited for this wonderful month!

Dun-dun-duh-duh.

That's right. I don't throw around dun's and duh's as if they are useless words; I am singing the wedding march.

A few months ago in November, my best friend since seventh grade Miss Heidi Denton

Starts seriously telling me about this guy that's she's been dating for about 4 months: Mr. Samuel Brubaker

WHAT?!?!

Well about a month after that, Heidi is engaged and they're getting married in April. YES! SO EXCITING!

Well, this past weekend Heidi and Sam came down from Idaho to take engagement pictures and bridal pictures AND Heidi had her bridal shower which was awesome! She got a ton of things for her home and she got a BOSCH! Yeah, I'm not getting married soon and I'm jealous! Well anyways, after the shower, we kidnapped Heidi and threw her a bachelorette party. Don't worry, I won't go into any detail, but it was really fun and it just made me thankful for my girl friends. We can have fun, but we also support each other. (Which is obviously more important than just having fun.)

Life. What a mess!

Since I have entered the college world, it seems that several discussions (with girls at least) involves marriage, boys, kissing etc. I don't know why I am noticing this now or why it bothers me (besides the obvious fact that I do not have any special guy in my life), but it just seems to come up over and over again. So messy. So confusing. Sometimes I just wish my life was more like this:

I know there is more to life than the petty parties and drama that seem to occur in this time era, but I love it still the same. I love the beautiful romance, the practiced dances and even the social classes. I love how each well scripted character in Austen's books only worries about their own small world. Back then chivalry is still a common, required thing. Now it is an art, unknown to most of the world. Back then people contacted each other through letter (Oh how I would love to write and receive letters like that!) and when they wanted to see each other they rode their horse and buggy into town. Now we communicate through cell phones, texting, facebooking, skyping. Life just seems to be overcrowded with unneeded things. What a lovely, simple world that was. Sometimes I just wish I had the same luxury.

Really. How did you get into college?!

So one of the classes I am taking this semester is "Math for Elementary Teachers." No big deal. I mean, it is elementary math, but the three other girls that sit at my table (yes, we're assigned tables just like in 3rd grade)are having a hard time. This is the dialogue in todays class.(Just to preface, we were doing an assignment that says "You're on a farm with chickens and llamas. You count 25 heads and you see 74 feet. How many chickens are there? How many llamas are there?")

Girl at my table: How many feet do chickens have?

Me: Are you serious?!

Girl: *Blank stare*

Me: Well how many feet does a bird have?

Girl: *Blank stare*

Me: Well does a bird have 4 feet?

Girl: Yeah.

Me: *Shocked stare*

Girl: Well one time I was driving and I saw this bird cross the road and it was walking on it's hands and feet.

Uhhhh... really now?! And she was absolutely serious. Now that's just sad!

So I have kind of a lot of things to mention in this post (mostly because I'm a HUGE procrastinator and I just haven't gotten around to it yet) Right when I finished my previous post I heard quite a pitter-patter on my roof. Lo-and-behold, it was pouring outside. Now if you don't live in Arizona, this probably means nothing to you, but if you have 360 days every year as dry as can be, any extra rain is greatly loved! I was so excited that I decided to sit under my porch and just enjoy watching the rain.

Absolutely beautiful! I cannot watch something like this and not know that there is a Father in Heaven who is very interested in our lives. What a blessing.

Something else that I thought was pretty exciting...

Molly and her friends were playing downstairs and when I went down to check on them, this was sitting on the couch. I went asked my dad about it and he said that he got it when he graduated from high school! After he showed me how it works, I got to play around with it and since there was some film still in it, I got to take a few pictures with it. I don't know why I was so excited about this, but sometimes the smallest things can mean the most. Like an old camera that's been neglected for the past few years.

My new obsession.

The first book to the trilogy which is called the Hunger Games (the second book is catching fire and the third book is the Victor- which is to be released this coming August) is probably one of the most exciting books I have read in a loooonnggg time. The plot is bursting with action and sprinkled with romance, though not overtaking the whole story line (*ahem*... Twilight). Each turn in the story is surprisingly refreshing.

It tells of the struggles of a poor girl, Katniss, who takes her sister's place in the annual Hunger Game, in order to save her sister's life. The Hunger Game is a government powered game that takes 24 children total- ages 12 to 18- and puts them in arena to kill each other. The last person alive is then declared the winner. As these barbaric games begin, Katniss does what it takes to survive the disaster the government has created.

I literally stayed up for three days in order to finish the first two books. They are amazing and definitely worth reading, though I do warn you; if you start, you won't want to STOP!

I have the best friends ever!

One thing you have to know about me is I love my friends more than almost anything. Although we're all spread apart due to school (and soon due to missions), there just something about these people that brings me joy everytime we speak. I am ever grateful for the example they are to me and the service that they give to me on a daily basis. Heidi, Heather, Rachel, Josh, Leslie, Hunter and so many other people, I am so grateful for these people. They have truly blessed my life and I love them all so much. I know that as life progresses, we may drift apart, but I will always remember these amazing people and the wonderful experiences they have brought into my life.
